This bronze mirror was made in China in the eighth century during the Tang period. The suanni in its design is mythical type of lion, and the luan is a type of phoenix. The high-quality cast of this mirror can be seen in unstinting attention to fine details. This mirror is part of the 663-piece East Asian art collection that Kiyoomi Taman (1892–1979), a former member of the House of Representatives and lawyer in Osaka, assembled together with his wife Akeko.
