This painting of a sleeping kitten was drawn by the Kyoto artist Hara Zaisho (1778?–1810?). The artist masterfully uses detailed brushwork to convey a soft texture and plump volume. The Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts has a wide selection of early modern paintings by Kyoto artists, including this one by an artist of the Maruyama School.
