Memories of Osaka in the depths of monochrome
DODO Shunji, Nakanoshima, Kita Ward, December 2008 (from "Osaka"), 2010
For his photo collection Osaka, published in 2010, Dodo Shunji (b. 1947) photographed scenes of Osaka, where he was born and raised, tracing his memories of the half century he lived here. The present work, one of the images included in Osaka, shows the Nishikibashi Bridge (the Tosabori River movable dam) and Festival Hall before its reconstruction, from the southern bank of the Tosabori River. A Faun Enjoying Music, the ceramic relief that decorates the wall of the hall, was rebuilt when the building was replaced with the current one, Nakanoshima Festival Tower.
