The legacy of the exposition, which featured plants from around the world

Collection of plant specimens from the International Garden and Greenery Exposition

Held in 1990, the International Garden and Greenery Exposition, Osaka, assembled and showed all sorts of plants from around the world. This collection contains and preserves specimens from it. It was prepared by the Osaka Museum of Natural History for the purpose of permanently keeping the results of the exposition and making effective use of them in studies in the fields of botany, horticulture, and plant breeding. The collection includes specimens of various of plants that ordinarily cannot be obtained in Japan, as well as materials for learning about the world of gardening at that time.
