Important Cultural Property Round Compositional Sketches Edo period/17th-18th centuries

This album of designs, produced during the Edo period, was created by Ogata Korin (1658–1716), a master of the Rinpa School, one of the major historic schools of Japanese painting. This album is part of the “Ogata Korin Materials Handed Down through the Konishi Family” to his descendants. Korin’s son, Juichiro, brought this collection of materials to his adoptive family, the Konishi family, and the collection was donated to the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts in 1943 by Kinta Muto, who was once recommended as the museum’s director. This museum has 33 items from the collection, and Kyoto National Museum holds 257 items from the collection.
