This postcard bears a postmark commemorating the opening of the Osaka Electric Science Museum. The postmark is dated March 13, 1937, the very day of the opening, and was stamped at the Osaka-Nishi Post Office. The design features the building of the Electric Science Museum and its symbol mark. The symbol mark was chosen through a contest open to the public, held in advance of the opening. Out of the more than 1,200 entries, the judging panel chose one mark and gave five others honorable mention. The symbol mark on this postcard is one of those that won honorable mention. From this postmark, one can sense the keen anticipations for the new Osaka attraction.
