『天文分野之図』は、17世紀に活躍した天文学者・渋川春海が作成した星図です。
『天文分野之図』にある大きな円形の図には、日本から見ることができる天の領域の星座が描かれています。ただし、描かれているのは現在の私たちが使っている西洋起源の星座ではなく、当時の日本で使われていた中国流の星座です。中国流の星座は西洋星座とは異なるもので、名称や星のつなぎ方は独特ですし、星座の数も西洋星座の88に対して283もあります。それぞれはどのような星座なのでしょうか。ひとつひとつ見てみましょう。

Tenmon bun'ya no zu is a star chart created by Harumi Shibukawa, an astronomer active during the 17th century. The large circular chart shows the sky visible from Japan where many constellations are depicted. However, the constellations depicted are not the Western constellations in use today, but the Chinese constellations used in Japan at the time. Chinese constellations differ from Western constellations in that they have different names and stars are grouped differently. Moreover, there are 283 Chinese constellations, whereas there are only 88 Western constellations. Take a look at each constellation to see what Chinese constellations are like.
