One of Su Shi’s calligraphic masterpieces, displaying his uniquely bold brushwork
Important Cultural Property Su Shi, Li Bai's Poem China, Northern Song dynasty(1093) Abe Collection
This work was written by Su Shi (1037–1101) in 1093 during the Northern Song period in China. Although it does not bear a signature, the bold calligraphy style is comparable to other works by Su Shi. This work is from the Abe Collection, accumulated by Fusajiro Abe (1868–1937), who served as president of Toyo Spinning Co. (now known as ToyoboCo., Ltd.) and later became a member of the House of Peers. Repairs of this work were completed in the 2023 fiscal year.
