A pre-war poster publicizing the activities of the Electric Science Museum

PR poster for the Electric Science Museum

This PR poster was made before World War II at the Osaka Electric Science Museum. Besides publicity for the museum, it was made to introduce the activities under the programs at the planetarium. It was probably displayed in the carriages of the Osaka municipal railway and the subway, which then had just opened. Because the planetarium of the Osaka Electric Science Museum changed the program theme every month, new posters came out on a monthly basis for a while. They were Japan’s first posters publicizing a science museum. It is also noteworthy that the design was created by a museum employee assigned to the task in the initial period of the museum.
