大阪市立自然史博物館の玄関前のポーチには、３体のクジラの骨格標本があります。どれも大阪湾で死体で見つかったクジラを骨格標本にしたものです。一番大きいクジラが「ナガスケ」の愛称がついているナガスクジラで、全長は１9ｍ、マッコウクジラの「マッコ」は全長9.1ｍ、ザトウクジラの「ザットン」は全長7mです。
ARや３Dで表示された骨格標本をいろんな角度から見てみると、種類によって、口、頭の形、前ビレの大きさなど、違いがあることがわかります。人間の骨との違いや共通点にも気づくことでしょう。解説動画には骨格標本の見どころも紹介しています。合わせて見てください。
Collection: Osaka Museum of Natural History
The glass canopy in front of the entrance to the Osaka Museum of Natural History has three whale skeletons. These skeletons are from whales found dead in Osaka Bay. The largest whale, a fin whale fondly nicknamed Nagasuke, has a total length of 19 meters. The sperm whale Makko has a total length of 9.1 meters. And the humpback whale Zatton has a total length of 7 meters. If you look, from various angles, at the three-dimensional, augmented-reality skeletons, you will see that there are species differences, such as the shape of the head , mouth, and the size of pectoral fins. You will also notice differences and similarities with human bones. The explanatory video, which we invite you to watch, introduces highlights of the skeletons.
